Here is a response I drafted on behalf of my family to the recent article about my grandpa's health so that others would not be misinformed:
To those who care about Frank Perconte,
This article was written against the expressed wishes of Frank Perconte's family. Other than a few facts, like June 6, 1944, this article is inaccurate. Mr. Ruane has no knowledge of Frank Perconte's health or condition.
John Ruane did not inform James Madio of any issues regarding Frank Perconte's health. Mr. Madio does have a strong bond with Frank and keeps in close contact with his family about Frank's ups and downs.
Frank Perconte's family is insulted by Mr. Ruane's from afar assessment of Frank's health condition and his "final battle." We are further insulted by the repeated use of the past tense regarding Frank's relationships and the way he spends his days. Describing Frank as a lonely old man is a slap in the face to the family, friends, and neighbors who regularly spend time with Frank.
This premature and inaccurate obituary is not a celebration of Frank Perconte's life. The family, friends, and neighbors do not want to see Mr. Ruane through Frank Perconte's picture window.
